Frequently Asked Questions

Hi Awesome Human!

Since the election, I have been receiving inquiries from current and potential clients. I thought it best to share it here with you all, FAQ style.

1. Who did you vote for (in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election)? A. VP Kamala Harris

2. Are you licensed in [State Name]? A. Currently, I am only licensed to practice in the state of Georgia (GA).

3. If I / we move out of the state / country, can you still be my / our therapist? A. Unfortunately, no. Because I am only licensed in GA, I can only work with clients who reside in the state.

4. Do you believe in God / Jesus? A. I do not. I'm a secular humanist.

5. Are you religious? A. I am not. Please see above.

6. What is secular humanism? A. The belief that humans can be ethical and moral without religion. It emphasizes the use of reason and logic over religious dogma. Some core values of secular humanism include compassion, justice, and equality.

7. Do you have experience dealing with difficult family members? A. Good grief, yes! I understand the challenges that family dynamics can present, and I have both personal and professional experience in navigating those situations.

My Feelings Concerning This Line of Questioning: Therapy is a very personal and vulnerable practice; there must be a level of trust present in order for growth and healing to occur. We must have a connection with our therapist in order to open up to them. The therapist serves as a collaborative guide through pain, pleasure, and all the human experiences in between. As a client myself, I can't help but to understand where these inquiries come from. I admire the strength behind these inquiries. I don't take them personally; rather, I see these questions as the human wanting to ensure a safe enough environment to process the experiences they came into counseling for.

I appreciate you so much. I appreciate you for taking the time out of your busy day to read what I write.
